Using a 3500 upper intake on a 3400 improves the powerband of your engine, and porting the manifold improves flow significantly. This manifold is matched for use with either the sportsman or competition series 3400 lower intake manifold. The Competition series has a radiused entrance at the beginning of the port inside the plenum for proven flow increases over the straight cut found on our Sportsman version.

This is not a simple drop in and be done upgrade. The 3500 manifold uses a different throttlebody bolt pattern, and WOT-Tech offers 3 solutions. The first is the TCE billet TB adapter that uses the familiar 3400 bolt pattern and works perfect with the TCE billet 62 or recommended 65mm Throttle body. The second option is the LX5 throttle body adapter by 60 Degree Inclusive which allows the LX5 65mm TB to be adapted. This is more difficult with no available cable bracket but the DIYer can sort this out for now. The last option is the TCE 5.3/Northstar TB adapter, which is 75mm. This is a bit much for streetability but for those that want to have a dedicated race motor, this setup could be for you.

There are other obstacles to this install, which will require an article to explain completely. There are discussions on 60DegreeV6.com and V6Z24.com. The short list are as follows. The Ignition coils will only bolt to either the manifold or the rear head studs, not both. The Charcoal Cannister Purge will not bolt down to anything. Another vacuum source is necessary for the FPR and vacuum based automatic transmissions.
