MLS head gaskets are comprised of three layers of stainless steel. The outer layers are an embossed viton coated stainless steel providing a superior seal with excellent rebound characteristics (reusable!) and are corrosive resistant. MLS head gaskets reduce bore distortion and withstand extreme cylinder pressures.  A cylinder head surface finish of 50 RA (roughness average) or finer, is recommended for a proper gasket seal. Anything rougher may conflict with the gasket design.  No re-torque is required after initial torque set, 

Gasket thickness of .060" stock is default, with the option for thinner or thicker based on your specific quench/compression needs. 3.640" is the default MLS gasket bore size for the 3400 engine.  The stock GM gaskets were 3.750".  if you are boring the block, please select the head gasket equivalent to the piston overbore size.

3500 heads on a 3400 block will work with the defaul 3.640" bore and larger.
